    Pastor Kenji Yokoy- Team Leader

My name is Kenji Yokoy, team leader of Hope Japan. I live in Beaverton Oregon, father of 2 beautiful children, husband of an amazing wife. I am the pastor of the multi-cultural congregation at the Japanese International Baptist Church. I am a passionate follower of Jesus Christ who gave me life, value, and purpose, turning my life upside down and inside out with His love, and to this day, leads me in the most amazing adventures as I take up the cross and follow after Him. My life is about 2 things, loving God and loving people, these are the purposes for which I live, what is on my mind each day, and what I am willing to lay down my life for. We're going to Japan to serve, to give, to love, and most of all, to offer the hope, love and life that I've found in Jesus Christ.

    Pastor Tom Yaso-Team Member

My name is Tom Yaso.  I live in Tualatin, Oregon. I was born in Kyushu, Japan and grew up in Shikoku, Japan.  I became a Christian in Kobe and worked at Osaka. I am currently living in the U.S. as a pastor, but my heart is still in Japan.

Why am I a part of the Hope Japan team? Well, normally, I am the last person to respond such a call. I like staying in my comfort zone. After the earth quake, our church started receiving phone calls asking, "What is your church doing to help Japan?".  I thought "It's my time to stand up", but I still hesitated to do so. On that day, I met a Romanian woman. She gave a donation to Japan's relief mission and prayed for Japan with tears. I was ashamed. She gave so much money to the country that is not her own. Why am I hesitating to do something for my home country?
